Our internet-dependent society has become an abode for a voluminous diversity of online games. Gambling, which is a major cause of addiction, is incorporated in most of the common online games.
MMORPGs or massively multi-player online role playing games allow these people to generate human interpersonal relationships in a virtual fantasy world. More often than not, the individuals’ need to substitute real-life human situations and relations cannot be achieved normally; thus, online gaming addiction is triggered.
The desire to substitute human connections with virtual ones through a game may be one of the reasons why people are easily hooked and addicted.
