Turning Those Article Links On

A popular way to build links to your website is through writing an article containing links back to your website or in the author bio and posting it to an article directory. This is often referred to as article marketing. If you do nothing more than submit the article you will have a collection of keyword anchored links that are, hopefully, pointed to some of your deep pages at your site.

This {lower|basic} level of article marketing is a great start, but with some more work the links could become even better links. What happens is, submitting a new article creates a new page in the article directory and this article will begin its life as an NR page rank. In order to get page rank authority a web page needs links and the more sites that link to your article, the higher the PR authority it will attain. And the higher the PR, the more powerful the links from that site down the track. Linking to the article will also get it indexed quickly.

The question is how does your article get links to it? You build them, of course.

Making Use of Social Bookmarking

As the name suggests, social bookmarking is all about the social aspect of the Internet. It’s a quaint idea and just fine if you want to make friends with your website. The Internet Marketer should be looking at the social bookmarking sites for a completely different reason and that is for the power that the backlinks indirectly can give your website.

An effective article marketing strategy involves using your social bookmarking account to bookmark your article. A better strategy is to bookmark your article from, say, 20 different social bookmarking sites. With such a large number of social bookmarking sites to choose from the number of links to each article is up to you.

Taking It A Step Further

If you’ve completed the first step of writing one article and submitted it to an article directory, it’s only a small step to rewrite the original so that it will be unique enough to be able to submit it to another article site. What you have done is known as article spinning. You’re after changes to the original article of more than 40% which is fairly easily done by shuffling a few paragraphs around, rewriting some sentences and replacing words with synonyms. You have yourself a second unique article if you spin the orginal once and when that is sent to a second article directory you’ve just doubled the number of links to your site with that one original article.

You can take the process further. Using some spinning software you simply have to put in a little time and effort to think up enough alternative phrases, sentences and words to make the resulting articles unique. Obviously, the more work you put into altering the original article, the more unique your articles will be. When you do this you should also remember to create alternate article titles, summary boxes and author bios (which is where your links will be embedded).

The process of visiting each article directory manually and submitting your spun articles follows once you’ve created your folder of spun articles. My recommendation is to spread the submissions over days or weeks and to keep track of the process with a spreadsheet so you know what has been posted where. For each new article submission it will be necessary to send links to it to get it indexed as quickly as possible.
